OAU to host Embedded Artificial Intelligence (EmbeddedAI) International Masters of Science Programme, secures the 2022 EU-GRANT (ERASMUS)

Under the leadership of the new Vice Chancellor, Prof. Simeon Bamire, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has emerged as a key player in the field of Embedded Artificial Intelligence (EmbeddedAI). OAU, along with a consortium of prestigious national and international universities, has secured the highly coveted EU grant for the International Master of Science Program in EmbeddedAI.

This groundbreaking EmbeddedAI project, which was initiated at the University of Port Harcourt in February 2023, aims to revolutionize the study programs for a Master of Science in Embedded Artificial Intelligence. By integrating cutting-edge European standards and technologies, the project seeks to enhance the skill set of engineers in Nigeria, fostering entrepreneurship opportunities and serving the local industry.

With a strong focus on bridging the gap between academia and industry, the EmbeddedAI project will cultivate a culture of practical and industry-oriented training within Nigeria’s higher education system. The program targets various stakeholders, including academia, students, industry professionals, and small and medium-sized enterprises. By integrating embedded artificial intelligence designs into diverse fields such as agriculture, medicine, and telecommunications, the project aims to address the unemployment challenges faced by millions of graduates in Nigeria.

The OAU team, led by Prof. S.O. Ajadi as the Project Manager and comprising esteemed members such as Prof. G.A. Aderounmu, Dr. M.L. Sanni, and Dr. W.A. Ahmed, will play a crucial role in driving the success of this transformative project. Their expertise and dedication will contribute to the development and implementation of the EmbeddedAI curriculum, ultimately ensuring its sustainable integration into the Nigerian educational system.
